Meet Monchito
Our quiet, curious resident cat — and the real-life reminder behind a lot of the questions we ask about comfort, confidence, enrichment, and everyday cat gear.
Resident cat
A cautious cat gives us a useful perspective.
Monchito is very much an introvert. He likes familiar spaces, calm routines, and enough time to inspect something new before deciding it is safe. That makes him a helpful real-world reference point when we think about carriers, hiding spaces, scratching areas, indoor enrichment, travel, and other situations where a cat’s comfort and stress level matter.
We do not pretend that Monchito personally tests every product on Modern Day Pets. When something has actually been used, photographed, or observed with him, we say so clearly. Otherwise, he is part of the perspective behind our editorial questions — not a substitute for research.

What “ambassador” means here
Real-life perspective. Monchito reminds us to consider cautious and lower-confidence cats, not only adventurous ones.
Original experience when available. We label genuine observations with Monchito rather than implying hands-on testing where there was none.
A familiar face. You may see him in cat guides, practical notes, original photography, and everyday examples across the site.
